I set up Powerplay in 2007 for a small group of kids who just wanted to perform musical theatre. I wanted it to be the ultimate musical theatre group. The group has been on an incredible journey over the last few years, starting with their entries into the Young Musical Theatre Singers of the Year Awards, performing ’You Can’t Stop the Beat’ from Hairspray in the final of 2008, and becoming champions in 2009 performing ‘Light at the end of the tunnel, from Starlight Express, finishing with an standing ovation from the whole audience including the judges!

Powerplay then went on to perform a huge charity concert for Air Ambulance Wales in May 2009, with a show stopping spectacle of songs from the Musicals.

Powerplay made its television debut in the summer of 2010 when they were successfully chosen at auditions to compete in Channel 5’s Don’t Stop Believing. This was an amazing opportunity for all of those who were able to take part. Not only did they get to have the experience of what it is like backstage of a TV show; the cameras, the celebrities, the costumes, the rehearsals, they had the chance to perform in front of a live TV audience and showed the nation what they could do. Singing Meatloaf’s ‘Bat out of Hell,’ they wowed the judges receiving some fantastic comments including the comments that every group wanted to hear, Anastasia’s ‘Cared for it’, and Chucky thought they were ‘rock star ready!’ ‘The best of the night.......’

Powerplay is expanding after their TV appearance with more and more people wanting to be part of the exciting opportunities that the group has had. This year, I have opened a brand new Musical Theatre Performance School with fun filled action packed classes in singing, dancing, acting and performing and master classes in performance and technical theatre from professional guests. Suitable for ages 4-25 with the chance to perform in many concerts for charity and annual shows and showcases if you are interested in joining in the fun check out our class listings.

Powerplay was my chance to give others the opportunity to perform something that they love, and teaching them what I know. As a professional performer, vocal coach and choreographer, I am the solo teacher of the group, and we work as a tight family! This is just the start of Powerplay and massive things to come!

One of my favourite quotes is:
‘those who say sunshine brings happiness have never danced in the rain.’
My dream is to see my students dance in the rain......
